just incase you were interested

here’s some lists detailing my albums of the year with links to related SBM posts. From the top.

20. Nosferatu D2 - We’ll Walk Around This City With Our Headphones On To Block Out The Noise
19. The Wave Pictures - If You Leave It Alone
18. Slow Club - Yeah So
17. Japandroids - Post Nothing
16. Noah and The Whale - First Days Of Spring
15. Brand New - Daisy
14. Johnny Foreigner - Grace and The Bigger Picture
13. Animal Collective - Merriweather Post Pavilion
12. Women - Women
11. Wavves - Wavvves
10. Tubelord - Our First American Friends - Tubelord on The Shuffle
9. Maccabees - Wall Of Arms
8. The Pains of Being Pure At Heart - The Pains of Being Pure At Heart
7. Sky larkin - The Golden Spike - Sky Larkin cover Bloc Party
6. Lovvers - OCD Go Go Go Girls

5. The Horrors - Primary Colours
With Primary Colours The Horrors ditched their garage sound seen on their debut and made an album with more than subtle nods to the shoegaze of the 90’s. A real story of the ugly ducking growing into a swan.

4. Let’s Wrestle - In The Court Of Wrestling Let’s
Expectations were well met when Let’s Wrestle finally graced us with their debut album. They’ve since gone to achieve accolades such as most overlooked album of the year, which is a pity but at least its some form of recognition for an album which is bursting to the seams with indie pop classics.

3. Dananananaykroyd - Hey Everyone!
A solid album from the very start to the very last burst of cymbals and distorted guitar. Dual drums, dual vocals and more fun than Hawkins Bazaar on a Sunday morning meant this album was never going to be anything short than a joy to listen to repeatedly but the pure listen-ability of tracks such as ‘Totally Bone’ made this an album to remember.

2. Telepathe - Dance Mother
Coming out early enough in the year for you almost to forget about it, Dance Mother provided instant enjoyment from the very first listen. No one quite made electro pop like Telepathe in 2009 the sad thing is they’re destined to be forgotten whilst mediocre acts like La Roux and Little Boots drown in critical acclaim.

1. The XX - The XX - Review on Teenage Hangover
This debut seemed to come out of no-where and was nothing short of amazing. Making music that appears simple but intelligent and complex is not something particularly easy but The XX completely kill it. If I was forced to sit in a room for the next 20 years of my life and instructed to make an album as good as this I don’t think I’d even come close.

So all in all a very predictable list, more posts coming soon. MP3’s are hosted on mediafire as always.
