The Shuffle #6 - Spectrals

The Shuffle is the part where we get bands we’re currently loving, to talk about some of the music they’re currently loving. Which obviously is an awesome idea for a feature.

It’d be hard for pretty much any plaid shirt donned teenager to not be just a little envious of 20 year old Yorkshire-man Louis Jones. Having recently dropped out of uni, he’s “pushing his luck” to see if he can make his Spector-influenced lo-fi pop catch on and it shouldn’t be too hard if his past releases are anything to go by (Supplex Cassettes, Captured Tracks, Italian Beach Babes, Tough Love). Along with the integrity evident within his songs, the fact he’s a one man lo-fi band from Yorkshire should make people take notice when he releases his debut LP ‘Bad Penny’ later this year.

1.) Jerry Vale - If It Isn’t In Your Heart.

Jerry Vale is just next level, his delivery, his band on “It’s Magic”, everything really…totally beautiful pop songs, they definitely don’t make them like this anymore. (sorry)

2.) Skrewdriver - I Don’t Need Your Love.

“All Skrewed Up” is such a catchy record! Listening to it a lot lately, this is my favourite song on it.

3.) The Fascinations - Girls Are Out To Get You.

I’ve loved this for ages now, It never gets old. My Ma had it on in the car once and she forgot who sung it, it took me years to find out who it was, i did it by googling random combinations of lyrics from it and “northern soul”.

4.) Swell Maps - Another Song.

Raging! the guitars on this sound wild, and the vocals are downright obnoxious.

5.) Magic Kids - Superball

Something new that I’ve had playing a lot. Surprisingly ace for a love song about a toy ball.
