Although it’s nice to be back in Weymouth for the holidays, I do miss being able to listen to so much music as it’s a lot of trouble bringing my computer back. If I had a brief search in my iTunes library I’m pretty sure that I’ve probably had Beach Fossils in there since sometime since July 2009, downloaded aimlessly from some distant ‘Forkcast’. As is always the way, it’s only this week that I have really taken notice after some murmurs of buzz after performances at SXSW .

Beach Fossils are everything The Drums wish they could be and effortlessly nail the surf take on The Cure sound. Their music has a very retrospective/nostalgic sound and it probably won’t surprise you to hear that they are part of the Captured Tracks roster. Summer of lo-fi surf pop mk. II? Could well be.
