bleary eyed

You know those bits of Los Campesinos! songs where it gets really NOISY and Gareth starts SHOUTING and you want to enjoy it, but at the same time you’re cringing a little as you remember “It Started With a Mixx” and 8 twenty-somethings with too-cool haircuts jumping around the stage….We Came Out Like Tigers sound a bit like this but without all the cringing. They take the hardcore sensibilities of Circle Takes The Square and refresh it with something a whole lot more Liverpudlian and new. ‘Ends Of Ends Of Era’s” fuses rapidly uttered spoken word with frenzied guitars that build and build.

Although I wish I could claim credit for discovering WCOLT, I really have to point you towards excellent Brighton-based label Tangled Talk. Previously responsible for putting out the debut EP for SBM favourites Battle For Paris, yesterday saw the label making a 15 track compilation available for free on their website. As well as featuring WCOLT and Battle For Paris, it also has great tracks from acts such as Mutiny On The Bounty and Easy Hips (finally a short band name). You can get it here and it comes much recommended!
